BIOGRAPHY
Lyle Starr is an American artist who lives and works in New York. Born in Oneida, NY in 1962, he has never returned. He grew up in the American West and lived for a while in a trailer home near a uranium mine. His family moved around alot and he attended seven different schools. He enjoyed leatherworking and woodburning at 4H Club in New Mexico but was less talented at boxing and football. He went to the University of Colorado in Boulder where he met filmmaker Stan Brakhage and beat writer Allen Ginsberg. Then he moved to Washington, DC and worked at NASA Headquarters. His first solo exhibition was in New York in 1999. His painting, "DEEP THIRD" was acquired by the Guggenheim Museum in 2007 and some of his "LICK" drawings are in MoMA's Collection.
